Sony PSP is Considered the World’s First Hand-Held Video Game System
The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a handheld game console released by Sony Computer Entertainment. The PSP is the world's first handheld video game system that uses an optical disc format. The device is equipped with a gaming-oriented controls such as the PlayStation face buttons, two shoulder buttons, a digital 4-directional pad, screen brightness, music settings and "Home" button to access the system menu.
The device is currentlyin seven colors. The device is 166 MHz graphics chip has 2MiB embedded memory for hardware polygon and NURBS rendering, environment projection and texture, clipping, texture compression and tessellation, and dithering, all in the 16 or 24 bit color provides. The PSP weighs 280 grams (including battery) and measures 170 mm x 74 mm x 23 mm. It is equipped with a TFT-LCD screen that can display 16.77 million colors at a resolution of 482 x 272 pixel display.
The systemhas 32 MB of RAM and 4MiB eDRAM from 2MiB is dedicated to the graphics unit. The system CPU contains 16 KiB of two-way set associative instruction cache and data cache memory. The unit is the provision of 33 million flat-screen shadow polygons per second with a file of 664 pixels per second rate capable. The PSP is capable of playing movies on a Universal Media Disc (UMD) format and its image viewer shows a variety of image formats like JPEG, Bitmap, and PNG.
The device main menuInterface consists of a horizontal row of icons, a vertical series of sub-icons when highlighted shows. Interestingly enough, all videos can be downloaded to your PSP through a streaming USB connects to any Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, then reveals them to be viewed on a television. The device can be connected to a wireless network via Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b. This allows PSP players to create a local network of multi-player game play and also allows them to connect toInternet.
